    AML screening comparison

A ComplyAdvantage alternative for teams that only need screening

These two are not really competing for the same budget line, and pretending otherwise helps nobody. ComplyAdvantage is a full financial-crime suite — screening, ongoing monitoring, payment screening, transaction monitoring, fraud detection and case management — with a self-serve Starter plan published from $99 a month. ScreenVeritAI screens names and produces evidence, priced per check, and does none of the rest. Every ComplyAdvantage detail below was read from its own pages on 4 September 2026.

    ASSESSMENT

Both are capable platforms. The honest question is not which is "better" overall, but which fits your priorities — here is where each one is the stronger choice.

    VERDICT · SCREENVERITAI

    Choose ScreenVeritAI if…

ScreenVeritAI is the narrower product on purpose. It screens and it evidences; it is not a financial-crime platform and will not become one. That suits teams whose real problem is defending individual screening decisions — criminal watchlists by default, explainable match reasoning, an evidence PDF per check, EU hosting — and who would rather pay €0.39 for a check than a monthly fee for every entity on the book.

    • You need EU data residency (Finland) with a deterministic mode that sends no data to AI models
    • You want criminal-watchlist screening by default, not just sanctions and PEP
    • You want an explainable AI review of every match that flags likely false positives with reasoning you can read
    • You need point-in-time evidence PDFs to hand to an auditor
    VERDICT · COMPLYADVANTAGE

    Choose ComplyAdvantage if…

ComplyAdvantage is a platform, not a tool. Its published product list runs from Customer Screening, Company Screening, Sanctions & Watchlists, PEPs & RCAs and Adverse Media through Ongoing Monitoring, Payment Screening, Transaction Monitoring and Fraud Detection, with financial-crime and AML case management in its Mesh product. It also does something rare among enterprise vendors and publishes a self-serve entry price, "From $99 per month" for 100 monitored entities in Essentials and Agentic tiers, with Enterprise quoted by sales (its pricing page, 4 September 2026).

    • You need transaction monitoring or payment screening, not only name screening
    • A large alert queue needs case management and a documented resolution workflow
    • One vendor for screening, monitoring and fraud detection beats a specialist for each
    • A monthly plan priced per monitored entity models your book better than per-check billing

Per-match written reasoning is not published as an output.
EU data residencyEU-hosted (Finland); deterministic Quick Check and monitoring send no data to AI modelsIts API docs publish regional endpoints — api.complyadvantage.com (EU), api.us and api.ap — which is the closest thing to a residency position we found, though the marketing pages state none.
Point-in-time evidencePoint-in-time snapshot per screening, exported as a PDF and never recalculated when the lists changeClaims "a comprehensive audit trail from data sourcing to alert generation" and standardised reports for examiner requests. Case management & workflowScreening history with every past check, its matches and its dismissed candidates, plus an evidence PDF per screening — a record, not an alert queue or a case-management suiteMesh, its case-management product, covers financial-crime and AML cases and is built for large alert queues — the platform's strongest ground against a screening tool.
Transaction monitoringNot offered — ScreenVeritAI screens names and entities. It does not monitor payments or transactionsTransaction Monitoring, Payment Screening and Fraud Detection are separate products inside the platform.

Ongoing monitoringContinuous re-screening included with monthly plans (slot limits per tier); scheduled runs bill at the normal check rate — no per-entity watch feeOngoing Monitoring is core, and the Starter plan is priced by monitored entities — 100 up to 2,000 on the published ladder. Re-screen cadence is not stated.
Pricing & contract modelPublished per check — Quick Check €0.39, Adverse Media €0.99, Full Search €5.90, Deep Research €14.90. Enterprise is "Unlimited usage", quoted by sales; contract terms are not published (4 Sep 2026).

"Not published" means the detail was not stated in the vendor's public materials when this page was checked (4 September 2026) — it does not imply the capability is absent. ScreenVeritAI figures are drawn from our canonical coverage set — the full source register is published on our coverage page (as of June 2026). A financial-crime suite next to a screening tool

    NOT THE SAME PURCHASE

ComplyAdvantage does more than ScreenVeritAI, and saying otherwise would be dishonest. Transaction monitoring, payment screening, fraud detection and case management are real products inside its platform, and ScreenVeritAI has none of them. It screens names and entities and produces evidence, and that is the whole product. So the question is not which is better but which unit of work you are buying. A regulated institution that must monitor payment flows and work an alert queue needs the suite shape, and a screening tool will leave gaps somebody has to fill elsewhere. A firm whose obligation is customer, supplier and counterparty screening that has to survive an examination is buying a great deal of surface to learn and pay for around a much narrower job.

Per monitored entity, or per check

    TWO PRICED UNITS

ComplyAdvantage deserves credit for publishing a self-serve entry price at all, because most enterprise vendors in this category publish nothing. Starter is "From $99 per month" and scales by monitored entities on a published ladder from 100 to 2,000; above that, Enterprise is a sales conversation. That unit suits a book you watch continuously, since you pay for entities under watch rather than for how often you look at them. ScreenVeritAI prices the other unit, the check itself — Quick Check €0.39, Adverse Media Check €0.99, Full Search €5.90, Deep Research Report €14.90, no platform fee — and includes continuous re-screening with monthly plans, where scheduled runs bill at the normal check rate rather than a separate watch fee. Neither unit is cleverer than the other. A large monitored book with few new checks favours per-entity pricing; onboarding bursts, supplier sweeps and periodic reviews favour per-check, so run both against last year's actual numbers before you decide.

What you can show an examiner, and where the data sits

    EVIDENCE & RESIDENCY

Both products produce a record; they are not the same artefact. ComplyAdvantage positions its case-management and alert-resolution records for regulatory defensibility, which is the right shape for showing how an alert queue was worked. What is not published is whether a past screening can be reproduced exactly as it stood on the date it ran, once the underlying data has moved on, and that is the question an examiner actually asks. ScreenVeritAI stores every screening as a point-in-time snapshot and exports it as a PDF that is never recalculated, keeping the matches that were dismissed alongside those that were escalated. On hosting, ComplyAdvantage does something most of this survey does not: its API documentation publishes three regional endpoints, api.complyadvantage.com for the EU alongside US and APAC hosts. That is a real signal, and it is not the same as a data-residency commitment — the marketing pages state none, and an endpoint you can call from Europe says nothing about where the data rests. ScreenVeritAI states its position on the page: infrastructure in Finland, data at rest never leaving the EU, and a deterministic Quick Check that sends nothing to any AI model. Either way, get the answer from the vendor on paper before your DPO signs anything.

    Full suite, or pay-per-check evidence

    WHERE THE LINE FALLS

ComplyAdvantage if you need the platform; ScreenVeritAI if you need the check and the record. A mid-size EU firm screening customers, suppliers and counterparties, with no payment flows to monitor, will use a fraction of a suite and pay a monthly fee for the rest of it. The same firm can run ScreenVeritAI at €0.39 a Quick Check with criminal watchlists included, escalate the ambiguous cases to Full Search, and hand an auditor a PDF per decision. Where the two overlap — sanctions, PEP and adverse-media screening — what actually separates them is criminal-watchlist coverage by default, published EU hosting, per-match written reasoning and a reproducible point-in-time record. Where they do not overlap, ComplyAdvantage simply does more, and no amount of framing makes a screening tool a substitute for transaction monitoring.

    Frequently asked questions

    Q&A
    Q.01
    How much does ComplyAdvantage cost?
ComplyAdvantage publishes a self-serve Starter plan "From $99 per month" for 100 monitored entities, scaling on a published ladder up to 2,000 entities, in Essentials and Agentic tiers. Enterprise pricing is not published and comes out of a sales conversation. We read those figures on its pricing page on 4 September 2026; open the page yourself before budgeting, because the ladder and the tier contents both change.
    Q.02
Is there a cheaper alternative to ComplyAdvantage?
That depends entirely on which unit you are buying. ComplyAdvantage prices per monitored entity per month, while ScreenVeritAI prices per check (Quick Check €0.39, Adverse Media Check €0.99, Full Search €5.90) with no platform fee, so a team doing onboarding bursts and periodic sweeps usually pays less and a large continuously monitored book usually does not. Do the arithmetic on your real annual volume instead of comparing headline numbers. And remember that the ComplyAdvantage price also buys transaction monitoring and case management, which is either a bargain or a subsidy depending on whether you use them.
    Q.03
What is the best ComplyAdvantage alternative for a small compliance team?
For a small team this is decided by scope and commitment, not by feature counts. A financial-crime suite gives a five-person team far more surface than it screens against, so look for a product priced per unit of work, with criminal watchlists included rather than sold separately, an evidence artefact you can hand to an auditor, and no annual commitment while you are evaluating. ScreenVeritAI answers those four, and our category survey scores the alternatives on the same five criteria so you can check the claim rather than take it.
    Q.04
    Does ComplyAdvantage do transaction monitoring?
Yes. Transaction Monitoring, Payment Screening and Fraud Detection are named products in its platform, alongside customer and company screening and ongoing monitoring. ScreenVeritAI does not monitor transactions or payments at all — it screens names and entities and produces evidence. If transaction monitoring is a requirement, a screening tool cannot replace it, and the two products are not substitutes for that job.
    Q.05
Which is better for EU data residency?
ScreenVeritAI states its position on the page: infrastructure EU-hosted in Finland, data at rest never leaving the EU, the deterministic Quick Check and continuous monitoring sending no data to any AI model, and AI-assisted levels running on EU-hosted models with zero retention. ComplyAdvantage publishes an EU API endpoint, api.complyadvantage.com, alongside US and APAC hosts, which is more than most vendors in this survey offer — but a regional endpoint is a routing choice, not a statement about where data is stored or processed, and we found no residency commitment in its public pages on 4 September 2026. If a GDPR review is part of your buying process, ask for the residency position in writing rather than inferring it from a hostname.
    Q.06
Can I run ComplyAdvantage and ScreenVeritAI side by side?
Yes, and it is the cheapest way to settle the argument. ScreenVeritAI is pay-as-you-go with no platform fee and no contract, so you can put the same names through both on the same day and compare the matches, the false positives and the exportable record before changing anything. Some firms keep both permanently, using the suite for transaction monitoring and alert workflow and ScreenVeritAI for evidence-grade counterparty and supplier checks.
